Lions Club International is challenging kids to participate in the annual Peace Poster Contest. This years theme is The Power of Peace. Haddonfield students and residents, ages 11 thru 13, are invited to create a poster that visually expresses what peace means to them. Local Lions Clubs will collect entries and choose winners. The winners will move onto to the district competition. From there, winning entries will advance to the multiple district level and then to the international level.
The grand prize winner, at the international level, will receive a trip to the award ceremony at the United Nations in New York City. The winner will also be awarded a cash prize of $2,500 and an engraved plaque. Twenty three merit award winners will receive a $500 cash prize and a certificate.
Posters must be at least 13 inches by 20 inches, but no larger than 20 inches by 24 inches. Any medium can be used to decorate the poster, however three-dimensional works will not be accepted. Artwork should be done on a flexible material for shipping purposes.
Posters must be submitted to the Peggy Cheney, the contest chairperson, by Friday, November 6. To submit a poster or for more information, contact Peggy at 428-9620 or pcheney1@verizon.net. For a complete list of contest rules, visit .
