The Lions Club will meet on Thursday, November 5 at Tavistock Country Club at 6pm. The guest speakers will be the Marketing Coordinator for the American Philosophical Society Museum, Jackson Shellenberger, and Curatorial Associate, Julianna Struck.

The pair will discuss the American Philosophical Society, the Society’s Museum in Philadelphia (opened in 2001), and the current exhibit “Dialogues with Darwin: An Exhibition of Historical Documents and Contemporary Art.”

Founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1743 for the purpose of “promoting useful knowledge,” the American Philosophical Society is the oldest learned society in the United States. The Museum contains a vast collection of historical materials, including a draft of the “Declaration of Independence” handwritten by Thomas Jefferson.

The Lions Club continues to seek new members and guests are cordially invited to attend any Club meetings or activities. For details, call the Membership Chair, John Hempstead, at 429-3525 or visit haddonfieldlions.com.
