Paying respect to a great American hero, one of the last WWII veterans
I was honored to attend the funeral of a great American hero, Clair Chafin, from Archer, Fla., along with several hundred other people paying their respects.
Mr. Chafin started the Gator Marines at the University of Florida and helped start the Young Marines, one of whom was voted and earned the top young marine in the United States and she just turned 15.
Mr. Chafin was in construction and worked fixing up houses for poor and needy people who could not afford to pay for services he did it free.
He was a WWII veteran who fought for our freedom. This American hero raised his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to be great heroes and great role models for Americans. We need more families like this one.
I was honored to be invited by the family to Mr. Chafins funeral, and wish to thank them for allowing me to take part in honoring this great American hero.
The next time you see a great WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Gulf War or Iraq Freedom veteran, thank them for our freedom; freedom is not free.
