On July 21, at approximately 03:15 am, third shift Macon County Sheriff Deputies responded to a call from a citizens report of a suspicious vehicle circling a fertilizer company in rural Warrensburg-Latham area. After officers arrived in the area a vehicle fitting the citizens description was observed traveling east on Park Rd. in the same area as the call.
An investigatory traffic stop was conducted and the Macon County Sheriffs K9 gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics. Deputies then discovered several components used in Methamphetamine Manufacturing. Both occupants were detained and deputies sealed off the vehicle, due to the highly volatile components within the vehicle.
The Macon County Sheriffs Narcotics Detective, as well as the Decatur Police Street Crimes Unit, arrived on scene to assist. It was then determined that the Illinois State Police Meth Response Team was needed due to the chemicals and components found.
Based on the traffic stop by Macon County Sheriffs Deputies, a residence and storage unit in Decatur were searched which yielded over 800 grams of methamphetamine in different stages of production with a street value of over $80,000.00.
The search also revealed more components used in the production of methamphetamine. Illinois State Police also responded to these locations due to clean up concerns. Both suspects were known by Detectives thru a pending Methamphetamine Case in Macon County.
