A neighborhood favorite for over a decade, the Ale House on Hawthorne is at once cozy, sleek, and welcoming. Featuring the familiar lineup of BridgePort beers, this location also serves farm fresh house-made food. Try their bubbling hot spinach and artichoke dip as a starter, or dig right in to their award winning ½ lb burger on a homemade bun. It’s a steal at under ten bucks. Not a meat eater? Ask for one of their vegetarian or vegan dishes. A recent visit showcased a smoky tofu and quinoa bowl and a hearty black bean burger. Other entrée choices include hand-tossed pizzas (think butternut squash with sage, goat cheese, mozzarella and arugula with an herb oil), large mixed salads, a rich pot roast with red potatoes, and their famous mac n’ cheese. All their food pares well with their ales, and if you’re not sure what to drink, try the sampler tray. At $7.50, it’s quite a deal. Of course, if you want to have their classic IPA, again, who’s going to stop you? With a thoughtful wine selection and a super happy hour (all day on Sundays!), the Ale House is a surprisingly sweet destination.
