New site has tips for healthy habits
12/01/06

Are you hoping to get your family in better shape in the new year? A new Web site just for Marylanders might be able to help.

Together the University of Maryland and Maryland Cooperative Extension have created "Eat Smart, Be Fit," a new resource for families. Log on for ideas on everything from how to save on food costs and healthy cooking tips to staying active and raising healthy kids. The site also provides information on local resources and events, has online cooking classes for kids and tips on where to find the best bargains around town.

"The Eat Smart, Be Fit Web site was developed specifically for Maryland residents after we spent months talking with community members throughout the state to learn about their needs and wants," according to Nancy Atkinson the director of the project at the University of Maryland. "Since its launch, we have been continuously adding new content on making healthy food and activity choices."
