Whistle while you work! doot, doott ,doot, doot, doot,
doot, doot..
Walt Disneys Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs made those
words and sounds famous, but it seems like no one whistles
anymore.
What happened to the whistle? Did it die from politically
incorrectness? Were the germophobes so paranoid that
whistling was stifled?
I never mastered the art of whistling a happy tune. My puny
whistle emitted by extreme effort in puckering my lips and
blowing, never sounded that tuneful or happy. Truthfully, it

As you read this, I hope to be safely home from the trip to Port Aransas, Texas. Dad has been going there for years to fish, so Jack and I went to visit a few days. We drove it in one day (12 hrs), but two would be more fun.
Probably the most exciting happening on the trip was when brother Jack caught a paper towel on fire in the camper, then preceded to throw it in the trash. It was between the door and me, so I was glad when we got it put out.

Who was Captain Capron?

The town of Capron was, somewhat like Alva, founded as a spur on the Santa Fe railway. Its main function at the time was to serve as a loading place for cattle.
The name originally assigned to the site was Warren. The name was later changed to Sterling, but, when it became a settlement large enough to rate a post office a problem occurred. The name "Sterling" was already in use by another town along this same stretch of Santa Fe track that the U. S. Post Office used as a mail route. The town went through the names "Virgil" and "Kermit," but those were also rejected by postal
