Mustangs lose to Union City
The Huntingdon Mustangs saw their football season
come to an end this past Friday night with a 30-7 loss to Union City in the
third round of the TSSAA Class 1A playoffs. Union City will advance to play at
Wayne County next week in the semi-finals.
The win by the Tornadoes avenged a 44-35 loss to the Mustangs earlier this
season. The Tornadoes rushed for 318 yards on the ground and were led by
QB Chase Bowling who rushed for 144 yards on 23 carries. Josh Nicks rushed

Johnson's injury crystallized Rebel effort
McKenzie was struggling with injuries as it was heading
into Friday night's Class 2A state quarterfinal football game with Adamsville.
Senior Keon Williams suffered a twisted ankle against Riverside in the second
round of the playoffs and would be limited. Then, early in the game with
Adamsville, senior running back Jake Johnson was severely poked in the eye,
to the point where he couldn't see.

Comer earns 100th victory
On Aug. 25, 2000, McKenzie defeated Gibson County 30-
0 in the football season opener. Beating the Pioneers is something that a lot
of teams have done and was a good start for new Rebel coach Wade Comer.
Little did he know that 3,344 days later, he would join lofty company. After
his team's 46-20 romp of visiting Adamsville in the Class 2A state
quarterfinals, Comer claimed his 100th career coaching victory. He joins the
likes of James Counce, Don Coady, Mike Mansfield, Jeff Morris, Rod

Sixteen teams battle it out in Hall of Champions Tourney
Sixteen teams from across the area headed to West Carroll
High School to take part in their annual Hall of Champions basketball
tournament, kicking off the 2009-2010 season.
Those girls and boys teams present were from TCA,
Gleason, Milan, Camden, Madison, Dresden, West Carroll, and Trenton
Peabody.
The high scoring player of the tournament was West
