Bill Jones of Nashville took first place and the championship at the 45th annual Old Time Bluegrass & Fiddlers’ Jamboree held Saturday, April 21 in Holladay. The Saturday morning parade was larger than usual even though the weather threatened sprinkles of rain off and on throughout the morning. Long lines were quickly formed following the parade for some of the best BBQ in the state. “Those that weren’t there really missed a treat,” says Lisa Richardson. “That was some of the best BBQ I’ve ever eaten. All funds raised by the event go for education at the Holladay school. Harmonica 18 & under: 1st place went to Dana Bell of Holladay. 19 & Over Fiddler: 1st Place & Champion went to Bill Jones, Nashville; 2nd place, Graham Williamson, Murfreesboro; 3rd place, Joe Alles, Nashville. Bluegrass Banjo: 1st place, Kenny Holland, Clarksville; 2nd place, Tommy James, Lexington; 3rd place,Kurt Stephenson, Dyersburg. Parade Winners Best Overall Entry went to Robert McGromon in an 1960 Etzel. Best Overall Float went to Mr. and Miss Bluegrass; Little Mr. and Miss Bluegrass- Jeremy Wallace, Jessie Stafford, Jae Hunter Taylor and Kristen Churchwell.
Most Unique Entry went to Monty Tines in a yellow wooden car.
Honorable Mention went to South Forty Fire Truck. Best Antique Car: 1st place, Alton Norwood in an 1957 Chevrolet; 2nd place, James Beasley in an 1968 Impala and 3rd place, Ann Bourne (Woman of the Year).
