CONSERVATION DISTRICT GETTING READY FOR WINTER

11/02/09
Email this story to a friend

Shorter daylight hours mean the gates at Macon County Conservation District sites will close earlier. Area gates at Rock Springs Conservation Area, Griswold Conservation Area, Sand Creek Conservation Area, Fort Daniel Conservation Area and Friends Creek Conservation Area will open at 7:00 a.m. daily and close at sunset. Sunset changes with the seasons so closing time will vary as the season change.

The District will turn off and drain water from all unheated facilities and drinking fountains in November. Use of the facilities will be limited through the winter months. Rock Springs Conservation Area has year round restrooms and drinking fountains at the Nature Center and Information Shelter. Friends Creek Conservation Area, Fort Daniel Conservation Area and Griswold Conservation Area will have pit toilets but no running water.

Sand Creek Conservation Area has a pit toilet and a hand pump well open year round.
