The final autopsy report on Trevor J. Snodgrass, 17, of Decatur, has been reviewed and released according to Macon County Coroner Michael Day.
Snodgrass collapsed unresponsive in class at MacArthur High School on the afternoon of Sept. 4th. He was transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital by ambulance and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival there at 3:22 p.m.
Cause of death has been determined to be natural causes -- a fatal cardiac arrhythmia (sudden irregular/abnormal heart rhythm). An arrhythmia can occur rapidly and oftentimes a person may have no previous known history of such an occurence.
There was no injury, no trauma, and no sign of violence detected in the post- mortem exam.
The toxicology report indicated only the presence of a prescription medication (routinely used by the young man) and this medication played no role in his untimely death.
Coroner Day said that "after following our investigative protocols and completion of all the extensive post-mortem testing, this case will be closed."
