Irby Fall festival fun

Irby Elementary’s fall festival offered fun for the whole family, including a hayride over the school grounds. Each year the fall festival hosts hundreds of children, family and friends, entertaining them with food and games. The festival raises money for the PTA, but also provides fun for students and parents alike. On tap for the evening were carnival type games and prizes, face painting, a fishing booth, grilled hamburgers and an assortment of baked goods.

High Springs FFA Chapter Camp Kulaqua retreat

HIGH SPRINGS – The High Springs Community School FFA Chapter held its 3rd Annual Chapter Retreat at Camp Kulaqua Sept. 17 and 18 with 35 members participating. After school on Sept. 17, FFA members and officers met at Camp Kulaqua at 4:30 pm. In a heavy downpour, we went to our cabins and unpacked while the rain seemed to flood the whole camp. Environmentally conscious students win national award

(Panthers Researching and Improving Different Environments) group recently learned its entry to the Final Lexus Eco-Challenge was selected as a first-place award winner. NEWBERRY – A team of students from Newberry High School (NHS) is one of a handful of high school teams in the nation to win top honors in a national environmental competition sponsored by the Lexus and Scholastic corporations. The Newberry P.R.I.D.E. (Panthers Researching and Improving Different Environments) group was recently notified that its entry to the Final Lexus Eco-Challenge has been selected as a first-place award winner. Pledge contest earns Newberry second graders $500

NEWBERRY – Newberry Elementary was presented a $500 check on Feb. 19 after one of its second-grade classes proved their patriotism and won the W-KTK Pledge of Allegiance contest. Every weekday morning at 7 a.m. a different class’s recording is played on the station’s Morning Show with Storm and Chris as that day’s “daily winner.” At the end of each month, the station selects one of its “daily winners” from that month to receive a larger prize.
