New EPA air pollution standard may cloud Hayden-Winkelman area

Hayden, Winkelman, and surrounding areas are in danger of being listed as a nonattainment area for lead air pollution. The nonattainment label is applied when the average amount of lead in the air over a three-month period exceeds EPA’s standards. This story is the second in a series on lead air pollution in the area and a possible nonattainment classification by the EPA. The first focused on Kearny and was published on Jan. 27, 2010. Meth coalition visits Hayden Schools
The Gila County Meth Coalition recently paid a visit to Hayden High School and Junior High along with their partners, the Gila County Narcotics Task Force and K-9 Unit, Copper Basin Coalition, Community Bridges and the County Attorney’s Office.
