Recognition of veterans and those who contributed to patriotic ceremonies in Superior mingle at Veterans’ Day event last week

A very special veteran of the United States military was honored at Veterans Day ceremonies at Fairview Cemetery on November 11.
Dressed in his dark, spic and span uniform, Superior resident and U.S. veteran Edward Garcia appeared at the event and was recognized for his service to his country.
At 99 years young, Mr. Garcia is the oldest member of both veterans organizations that are active in Superior, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He sat with the dignitaries waiting to speak to the large crowd that had gathered at the cemetery to honor the

The Superior Fire Department responded Nov. 6 when a swarm of bees was found in a tree in downtown Superior. The insects made their appearance in the 400 block of Main Street where emergency personnel blocked off the affected area and the bees were removed.

Field trip to university a learning experience for SHS students attending career centered event

A number of Superior High School students got up early to attend a special career exploration event on the Grand Canyon University campus November 6.
Students who attended were expected to arrive at 5 a.m. so they could be on time for the 7 a.m. event check-in. Prior to checking in, attendees received a T-shirt and packet and chose which sessions they wished to attend. Exploring a Career in Nursing, What it is to be an Oncologist and The Many Faces of Nursing were a few of the variety of sessions available. Most students from Superior attended

Female basketball athletes at SHS now have own record board dedicated to legendary coach Evelyn Pack

Andrea Rabago, Class of 1996 Most Valuable Player, is one of the female athletes recognized at a November 14 ceremony dedicating the new letterboard for female basketball players to Coach Evelyn Pack, a former SHS coach and physical education teacher. They call the Superior High School Class of 1988 The Loud and the Proud and proud, at least seemed appropriate at a November 10 ceremony held in the SHS multipurpose room.
The afternoon events purpose was to introduce the new girls basketball record board that now hangs on the wall at the gym entrance. The Class of 1988 purchased the board last year. At the event it was dedicated to longtime SHS coach and physical education teacher Evelyn Pack, who died in 2002.

Properly recycle electronics waste this Saturday afternoon at JFK school parking lot event
