Cain takes the helm
BRYAN BOUKARI/Alachua County Today Monday marked long-time City of Alachua employee Traci Cain’s first official day on the job as interim city manager, and this is the second time Cain has served in this capacity for the city.
ALACHUA – After almost 18 years working for the City of Alachua, Traci Cain sits behind the interim city manager’s desk once again. Cain officially took on the duties of interim city manager Monday. The Alachua City Commission appointed her to the position in September and drafted a contact with her set to expire Feb. 28, 2010. She is no stranger to the position. Based in Newberry, Bass has joined a growing industry that has gained popularity in the Florida panhandle area, but is still relatively rare locally. At a time when Americans are eating more seafood, and importing more seafood, Bass is hoping to make his mark in the aquaculture industry.

ALACHUA – After police officials stepped up patrol in the area to curb illegal activity, community leaders and neighborhood residents met at the local hangout known as “the Tree.” The Tuesday meeting, held at the site where a huge oak tree once stood, was called to gather ideas and opinions from residents about future plans for the city-owned lot.
