CITY SEEKS INPUT ON 5 YEAR CONSOLIDATED PLAN
The City of Decatur invites interested persons, organizations, agencies and the
media to participate in the development of its 2010-2014 Consolidated Plan.
Residents can now share their ideas through a survey available online at
HYPERLINK "http://www.decaturil.gov" www.decaturil.gov by clicking the City
Surveys button and the City will hold two public meetings in November to
present its findings and gather additional information about the needs of
Decatur residents as they relate to the above goals.

SOME OBSERVATIONS ON THE CITY'S CUTS IN PERSONNEL

City Manager Ryan McCrady says the city will reduce its staff by a total of
17 positions and should save almost $1.4 million as a result of the Voluntary
Severance Plan (VSP) that was introduced earlier this year.
McCrady also says there will be no savings for this fiscal year, which will
end next April. He said the savings should come in the next fiscal year, which
obviously is 6 months away.
With some reductions in the police and fire departments, an obvious
question is Do the cuts go too deep? especially in police and fire.

MACON COUNTY TOURISM TOPS $100 MILLION IN 2008
Macon County was one of just 21 counties in Illinois to draw $100 million or
more in tourism dollars last year, bringing in $107.48 million according to a
recent tourism economic impact report from the State of Illinois.
