Looking somewhat like a scene from the Old West, teepees and tents filled the Avard Camp Grounds. People in buckskin clothing cooked over a campfire. A group of Oklahoma’s Mountain Men held their first Avard Rendezvous at the area, according to information supplied by Debbie Cunningham who helped arrange the meet. Bullying prevention program begins at Alva Middle School
All schools deal with the issue of bullying. Alva Middle School is taking proactive steps to stop and prevent bullying by adopting the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. This research-based schoolwide “systems-change” program has been used successfully in schools all over the country and around the world with positive results. This program is not a curriculum that students participate in for only a few weeks.
