When the Benton County Commission met in regular session on Monday, Benton County Mayor Jimmy Wiseman was absent because of a medical procedure. Chairperson pro tem Murleane Steinbuck presided over the meeting. Wiseman had told Steinbuck prior to the meeting to pull the wheel tax resolution.
When the floor was opened up to the citizens forum Horace Bell asked commissioners where they were going to get the money they were spending. Bell suggested that they think about where the money was going to come from before they voted to spend it. Bell pointed
Early Tuesday morning the Benton County Sheriffs Office, along with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Task Force, made their way across Benton County arresting people for various drug charges.
CAPTURED - Officers escort Lewis Franklin Hill, Jr. back into jail after his escape approximately five hours earlier. Additional charges of escape from a detention center and aggravated burglary have been added to other pending charges.
A manhunt was on in Benton County after an inmate escaped from the Benton County Jail. At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, Lewis Franklin Hill, Jr. escaped by climbing over the razor-wire fence. Hill was outside in the recreation yard when an apparent commotion broke out inside the jail, giving him the distraction he needed to walk around the corner and climb the fence.
Hill was in jail for two counts of theft of property, harassment, aggravated burglary, criminal trespassing, public intoxication, vandalism over $500, and simple assault. Since
