Local man charged with rape

A Benton County man was arrested and charged with rape and incest after the Department of Children’s Services received a call from one of the schools.

Cindy Curtis with DCS responded to the call that involved two girls who alleged they were touched improperly.

Schools celebrate Dr. Seuss birthday

READING IS FUN! - Jenny Miller, a.k.a. the cat in the hat, dressed up as Dr. Seuss to read to all of the children who attended the birthday party on Tuesday. Children of all ages enjoyed looking at the pictures and hearing the stories that were read.

Kids of all ages attended the birthday party in honor of Dr. Seuss, a.k.a The Cat in the Hat, on Tuesday, March 2. They enjoyed cupcakes, crafts, and reading as they moved around the room from table to table, listening to the many different stories that were being read.

Rest-stop shooting appears to be domestic

Davidson Countians arrested for selling cocaine locally

On Wednesday the Benton County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that two men from Nashville were in Benton County possibly selling cocaine. According to officer’s reports, the car was spotted on South Forrest Ave. on Thursday. Officers told the two men in the car to pull over and put their hands where they could be seen.

Eaton spells it right

It’s back to the national spelling bee in Washington, D.C. for John Michael Eaton. Saturday he competed at the 2010 Jackson Sun Spelling Bee sponsored by Union University. After beating out 37 other contestants, the only two left standing were John Michael, an eighth-grader at Camden Junior High School and Claire Layne, a fifth-grader schooled by the West Tennessee Home Education Association.
