AUSTIN, TEXAS A recent poll shows Texas Gov. Rick Perry's approval rating here in the Lone Star State are at a 10-year low and more than half of Texans are looking for someone else to fill the Governor's office come next election .
The telephone survey of 806 Texans conducted Jan. 21-24 shows 40 percent of Texans say that they approve of how Perry is doing as governor, a 10-point drop from a year ago. 40 percent said they want someone else to have the highest office in Texas.

The U.S. Supreme Court is will decide if a convicted killer should be spared the needle tonight in the Texas death chamber for the brutal rape and murder of a 38-year-old woman in San Antonio nearly 20 years ago.
Rodrigo Hernandez faces lethal injection tonight in Huntsville for abducting, raping and strangling Susan Verstegen. Her body was found dumped in a garbage can behind a San Antonio church in February 1994.
Hernandez was linked to the gruesome killing some 8 years after it happened when he submitted a DNA sample as a parole requirement in Michigan where he was serving time

Jasper Man Arrested, Charged With Child Abuse

Jasper Country Sheriffs officers arrested 34 year old Elvin Tyrone Collins Tuesday, after Jasper County Sheriff's Department took a statement about an injury to a child case which was reported by a local daycare. The two year old little boy had apparently had been beaten severely with a belt according to the report. Jasper Sheriff Mitchell Newman said, "Pictures of the child were taken and the child had bruising on the child's legs, butt, face and hand. His hand was also swollen."
Collins later on admitted to having beaten the boy. He is currently being held in the Jasper County Jail on
